Cricketer Shikhar Dhawan was granted a divorce from his wife Ayesha Mukherjee by a local court in Delhi on Wednesday due to mental cruelty. "The judge upheld all the claims and accusations presented by Dhawan against his spouse in the divorce plea."
According to the court's decision, the judge accepted the allegations on the basis that Mukherjee either did not oppose them or failed to defend herself. Kumar acknowledged that Mukherjee had mentally tortured Dhawan for years by compelling him to stay away from his son.
However, the court refused to pass an order on the permanent custody of the child. Kumar granted Dhawan the right to meet with his son for a specified period in India and Australia, including overnight stays with him and other family members. The cricketer was also allowed to have video calls with his son.
The court directed Mukherjee to bring the child to India during the minimum school holidays. According to the petitioner's claim, Mukherjee had initially assured Dhawan of staying with him in India. However, she failed to do so due to her commitment to her daughters from her previous marriage.
The court also noted that Mukherjee had pressured Dhawan to make her the 99% owner of three properties purchased in Australia with the cricketer's earnings. She also exerted pressure on him to become a joint owner in other properties.
The court found that Mukherjee failed to counter these allegations along with other charges."
